As much as I love AAC and everything about it, I have to admit -- it's not always easy. Sure, it's do-able, and tends to be well worth the effort. But there is effort involved -- for the users and for so many people in their lives.

Today I'm sharing a blog post written by an AAC learner's mom who's keeping it real: The Difficulties with Augmented Communication

She makes some excellent points. Next time you find yourself struggling with AAC, remember that a) you're not alone and b) it's okay to struggle because it's not easy. Sometimes just giving yourself permission to acknowledge the difficulty can make it feel less difficult.
